HONG KONG ATHLETIC TRAINERS' ASSOCIATION
Hong Kong Athletic Trainers' Association (HKATA) was founded in 2023. The Association strives to build and promote the athletic training profession in Hong Kong by lobbying for its acceptance, importance, and value in sports and healthcare settings as a regulatory body that regulates athletic trainer qualification standards in Hong Kong. The Association's objective is also to steer and encourage the growth and establishment of the athletic training profession by providing members with active involvement and experience to refine their competence.
MAJOR MILESTONES
2013 - Launch of the first Sports Trainer Certification Course
2014 - Graduation of the first cohort of Clinical Sports Trainers from MSc SMHS
2018 - The ever first on-field sports trainer support for Hong Kong National Team & trailblazing as the first full-time sports trainer in a private physio clinic setting
2020 - The first full-time sports trainer joins forces with a local professional soccer team
2023 - Establishment of the Hong Kong Athletic Trainers Association (HKATA), marking a significant milestone in the field of athletic training
